Tiles come in many diffrent shapes, materials and colours = ceramic, clay and the most common on in Britain is concrete.....all tiles will give you a long lifespan with them.
Most Modern concrete tiles have a double interlocking channel ensuring water will be kept out, however, the head lap of the tile is very important to ensure you do not get a cappilary reaction ( when water back travels and enters the roof)......this is all down to the roofer that applys the new battens, as the roof should be worked in from the top of the apex when you are about half the way up .
This is a eybrow window. It is very time consuming to do, but also very rewarding to the roofer as alot of skill and cuts are involved

allowing your tiles to get thick with moss ( as picture below) can lead to shaling of the tiles......we offer a roof jet wash service that is a fraction of the cost to a new roof, please feel free to ask.
Moss covered tiles (lifting them to exposure!).
